Lewis Hill, the president of the Great Northern Railway, had the Prince of Wales Hotel built in 1926 as a stop-over base for bus tours from Montana to Jasper. These trips were being offered by the railway operating out of Glacier National Park. The Prince of Wales Hotel is now owned and maintained seasonally by Glacier Park Inc.
