Hunting the Whitetail Deer

Perhaps the most challenging hunt for any low land big game is for the Whitetail Deer.

Elusive, graceful and one of the most challenging. No rack on your wall looks better than a record buck with a good story to go with it and every successful hunt has a good story. Look through our Tales and Tips. These will help you to gain and understanding of the quarry or at least enjoy a good deer hunting story. The more you understand them the greater the possibility that your hunts will be successful. These entries have been provided by fellow hunters like yourself and are quite entertaining.

Generally when we think of hunting the Whitetail we imagine a nice multipoint buck and while this may be most desirable and ego inflating, most state have an antlerless season meaning you can take a Doe. It has long been the understanding that you should never take the female species as one buck can service many Does and only the Does can replace the deer we take each year. However when you are allowed to take  a Doe you don't need to feel guilty about doing so. The deer population is monitored by the game commission in each state and when they determine that  cutting the number of birthing Does is best for the deer population you are only doing your part to help.

Send us your stories and tips to share with other Deer hunting enthusiasts.
