Cleaning

Every bike needs to be washed every  month of use and right after especially dirty rides (mountain and BMX  bikers!) Washing your bike will remove grit and road minerals as well as making it look good.
Never put your bike up at the season's end without washing

What you need

   A Scrubbing brush
   Small brush
   Sponge
   Rags -Wet and Dry
   A detergent (Joy)
   A Bucket
   Hose without a  nozzle

Then

  • Mix the detergent with half a bucket of warm water. Using a sponge wash down the entire bike. Use straight detergent on greasy spots.
  • Rinse the bike with the hose.  Use the brushes to remove dirt from the tight places the sponge couldn't fit.
  • Wrap the sponge around each spoke and slide.
  • Rinse off your bike.
  • Dry the bike. Use  WD40 to disperse water from parts that can't be dried with a rag.
  • Lubricate all moving parts to replace what was removed by the detergents

Never pressure wash your bike.

Doing so will wash the grease out of the bearing
